ABOUT US

Meet Your Host, Joe Skaggs

Joe is the proprietor of Querencia Lodge. An avid outdoorsman, fly-fisher, and bow hunter, he teaches and guides with the knowledge and experience of someone who does it every day. Joe is well known for his rapport with children and specializes in teaching beginners all they need to know to fly-fish on their own. “Most of my guiding,” he says, “is making sure people know where to go and how to get there and have everything they need for a great Montana experience.”

Joe is on-site, ensuring you have everything you need for a perfect vacation. Think of him as your concierge; he is there when you need him or a phone call away. You will find his local knowledge and guidance invaluable.

Joe also stays busy pursuing his passion for training retrievers. Be sure to ask for a demonstration. He manages Querencia Kennels. The quietest kennels imaginable. No barking allowed.

Mike Skaggs, Assist. Operations & Guide

Mike, Joe’s son, assists with the operation of Querencia Lodge. You may see him with his son, Owen, or daughter, Sawyer, all helping with the chores. Mike is also in charge of the scenic floats on the Yellowstone River with the raft or drift boats. He, too, has a wealth of local knowledge.

As your host at Querencia Lodge, Mike takes personal responsibility for making sure you get the most out of your Montana visit. He is a graduate of Montana State University in Bozeman. Mike has made his career in the hospitality industry, spending his winters as a ski instructor at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky Resort. Mike also enjoys guiding hikers and rowing the Querencia Lodge drift boat on scenic floats down the Yellowstone River.
